Right now we are looking for children who will soon be 18 months old to participate in our imitation project. First we conducted a pilot study, in which we tried out various toys to see which ones work best in our setting. Then, when the test material was ready, we started our first study. Forty-five 18-month-old children participated, and the study is now completed. Currently, we are working on analyzing the data. We have now started the second study in the project, and we are looking forward to welcoming many interested families to the BabyLab!
In different research studies it is usual to control for some variables in order to make the groups comparable. In this study children have to fulfill the following criteria to participate: birth weight between 2500-4500 g, born after at least 37 weeks of gestation, and being healthy (no diagnosed sensory, motor or neurological impairments).
If you are interested in participating and your child is now between 12 and 18 months old, you can contact Solveig Flatebø or Linda Johansen via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com), and they will offer you an appointment close to your child’s 18 months “birthday”. You can also contact them if you have any practical questions regarding the study. If you have any questions about the background of the study, you can contact Gabriella Óturai (firstname.lastname@example.org).
