In the longer term program, the idea is also students exchange. However, clearly different from the former in the sense that the cooperation is over semesters and years.
One part of the program consists of Master Scholarships to Russian candidates. The students embark on the UiT/Norwegian College of Fishery Science International fisheries management program IFM. For the moment three students are about to finalize the first part of this, giving the opportunity for three more students to come.
An equally important part of the program is a course program in Murmansk comprising four courses relevant studies:
- Fisheries biology (10 ECTS)
- Fisheries economics and planning (10 ECTS)
- Russian Culture focusing the Kola region (10 ECTS)
- Russian language (primary level – 10 ECTS)
In addition to the study programs the cooperation covers research project development, seminars/workshops and dissemination of results.
Cooperating partners are PINRO (KNIPOVICH POLAR RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF MARINE FISHERIES AND OCEANOGRAPHY/Murmansk), MMBI (Murmansk biological institute) and Institute of marine research of Norway as well as NOFIMA.
