New FET-Open Grant to the Hammarström Group

The NordCO2 PI Leif Hammarström is coordinating a new EU funded project funded through the FET open call. The FET calls for ambitious innovations that has a radical vision and represents a technological breakthrough.

There is no doubt Hammarström fullfills these criteria trying to make fuels from CO2 using artificial photosynthesis inside soap bubbles. NordCO2 congratulate Hammarström and his collaborators from 6 different countries in Europe with the new project called Sofia.

New Perspective article from the Martín-Matute Group

The Martín-Matute group has been working on Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for quite some time and has published a perspecive in JACS on MOFs as catalysts for organic synthesis. The perspective gives examples from emerging solutions for using MOFs in catalysis and highlights areas where using MOFs may have the largest impact in the future. Read the article HERE

Open PhD position at Stockholm University

PhD in Prof. Belén Martín-Matute´s Group

PhD student position in “Organometallic Synthesis and Catalysis: New Methods to Make Carbon-Carbon and Carbon-Heteroatom Bonds”

Description: We will design and synthesize homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts based on transition metals and organocatalysts that will be employed for the construction of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds selectively. The PhD studies will be carried out within two multidisciplinary projects aiming at developing new catalysts for the use of CO2 as a 1C synthon in organic chemistry. Synthesis, analytical characterization and application of hybrid organic/inorganic materials will be carried out.

Applicants with a background either in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry are welcome to apply.

For more details, contact Prof. Belén Martín-Matute (belen.martin.matute@su.se), and see www.organ.su.se/bm
