Community-scale analysis of snowmelt timing, growing season lengths and plant growth
Much of the work on the responses of plants to climatic change has been conducted at the individual or plot level scale. This project aims to upscale information from the plot level to the community-scale. A variety of information will be used (NDVI measures, temperature sums, plant phenology) that has been obtained at different scales to enable us to determine the response of plant growth to snowmelt timing at the community-scale.
The study will be carried out at Adventdalen but will be conducted within a monitoring framework established on Greenland. This work will be done in collaboration with NINA (Norwegian Institute for Nature Research) and the findings will feed into the Arctic Biomass Network.
