Winter soil temperature impacts on soil invertebrates
Soil invertebrate fauna play a key role in nutrient cycling, decomposition and energy flow in the terrestrial Arctic. This system will likely be significantly affected by climatic change. This project will define the relationship between winter soil depth (and temperature) and density, taxa and dominance of soil invertebrate decomposers.
This project will be conducted in collaboration with UNIS (The University Centre in Svalbard).
