Together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/polar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psycholinguistics of Language Representation (PoLaR) Lab<\/a><em>,<\/em> the AcqVA Lab (for language acquisition, variation and attrition) provides methodological support for researchers at C-LaBL.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of the research in our projects is based on experimental data and controlled data collection. In 2008 we established a language acquisition lab on campus, funded by the Center for Advanced Study in Theoretical Linguistics (<a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/castl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CASTL<\/a>) and&nbsp;the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.uit.no\/enhet\/isk\/forskning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Language and Linguistics<\/a>. Over the years, a lot of the lab\u2019s activity has moved out into the field, and most of our data collection today takes place in schools and kindergartens, or over the internet. The lab provides training in infra-red and web-based eye-tracking, standardized tools for data elicitation (vocabulary and grammar tests), recorders and other hardware as well as help with experimental designs and data analysis to students and staff that are associated with C-LaBL.
