Field School on Permafrost
INTERNATIONAL FIELD SCHOOL ON PERMAFROST 2014 – A RUSSIAN ADVENTURE
Capacity-building was one of the most important focus and deliverables of the ARCSUS project. One example of this was to fund field schools on climate change and its impact on Arctic cities in Russia. In the Summer of 2014, Gunnar Bjørnsson, an intern at The Barents Institute participated in the Field School. While on the Field School, Gunnar logged the day to day activities of the field school and what he learned about the impact of permafrost thaw on the city of Norilsk, one of the largest industrial cities in the Arctic.
