Images (a) and (b) show a side-by-side comparison of the morphology of beads with and without a 70 nm silver coating. These nanostructures, specifically designed for biosensing purposes using the monolayer self-assembly method, were developed in a clean room facility at UiT, Tromso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"956\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/arcticoptica\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/479\/2022\/11\/OpticaChapter2-sathi-das.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/arcticoptica\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/479\/2022\/11\/OpticaChapter2-sathi-das.jpg 956w, https:\/\/site.uit.no\/arcticoptica\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/479\/2022\/11\/OpticaChapter2-sathi-das-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/site.uit.no\/arcticoptica\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/479\/2022\/11\/OpticaChapter2-sathi-das-768x578.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 956px) 100vw, 956px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>OpticaChapter2<\/strong> &#8211; <em>Sathi Das<\/em> &#8211; The image shows the trapping of polystyrene beads with a diameter of 250 nm inside a PDMS nanobowl stamp. The structure was designed with the goal of trapping nanometer-sized biomolecules and extracting their molecular information using Raman spectroscopy. The crystals form a structure that can be found in the botanical world, it seems to imitate the flowers of the hydrangea.
