{"id":505,"date":"2018-04-21T12:12:48","date_gmt":"2018-04-21T10:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/arcticsize\/?p=505"},"modified":"2018-04-21T12:13:59","modified_gmt":"2018-04-21T10:13:59","slug":"sea-ice-field-work-on-svalbard-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/arcticsize\/2018\/04\/21\/sea-ice-field-work-on-svalbard-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Sea ice field work on Svalbard PART 1: van Mijen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week Arctic SIZE members went for field work in van Mijenfjorden an ice covered fjord on Svalbard near a closed down mining settlement Sveagruva.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf Gradinger and fullbright professor Rodger Harvey were teaching at the <em>Ecosystems in ie covered waters<\/em> course. They showed UNIS students how to work on sea ice and understand the physics and biology in the ice.<\/p>\n<p>Christine Dybwad participated in the course and was able to put out sediment traps for her own research.
