“Next to nothing. Close to everything. This is Arctic living.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the slogan that Alta has as a destination. Even though Alta is one of the most remote cities in the Arctic it definitely is one of the prettiest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pictures that the students have posted look like they were made in the middle of nowhere but actually, they are made in one of the most beautiful places on earth, in Alta, Norway. This can be seen very well in the picture posted by @clemalta_sm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\u00a0very\u00a0small\u00a0amount,\u00a0barely\u00a0more\u00a0than\u00a0nothing\u00a0at\u00a0all.\u00a0This\u00a0expression\u00a0uses\u00a0‘next\u00a0to’\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a0the sense\u00a0of\u00a0\u201calmost,\u201d\u00a0a\u00a0usage\u00a0dating\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0seventeenth\u00a0century,\u00a0as\u00a0in\u00a0\u201cShe\u00a0ate\u00a0next\u00a0to\u00a0nothing,\u201d\u00a0or\u00a0\u201cI\u00a0earned\u00a0next\u00a0to\u00a0nothing\u00a0last\u00a0year.\u201d Except for the beautiful nature and the many many trees that can be seen, this is what next to nothing and close to everything means in the Arctic according to @claraaaa_inalta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

@evainalta ‘s and @clemalta_sm pictures (again) are ultimately characterized by the definition that was given to the term Arctic living, “adaptation to short growing seasons with long periods of sunlight, and to cold, dark, snow-covered winter conditions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
