Mornings were open to the public and featured talks by leading academics and practitioners, while afternoons were devoted to in-depth collaboration on predefined challenges. This hybrid model provided participants with both intellectual inspiration and practical engagement, creating a powerful environment for collective learning and innovation. Rita S\u00f8rly, Head of the Arctic Youth Research Centre, opened the event with an overview of the workshop&#8217;s goals and the role of Arctic Youth in promoting inclusive, co-created research.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&raquo;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&raquo;default&raquo; text_font_size=&raquo;18px&raquo; text_line_height=&raquo;1.8em&raquo; global_colors_info=&raquo;{}&raquo; theme_builder_area=&raquo;post_content&raquo;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Keynote speakers included:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><strong>Prof. Ilse Julkunen<\/strong> (University of Helsinki), on \u201cTransforming research impact through interdisciplinary approaches\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ass. Prof. Birgitta Ljung Egeland<\/strong> (Karlstad University), who discussed \u201cNarrative learning and the development of life skills\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Senior Lecturer Katarina Bernhardsson<\/strong> (Lund University), presenting \u201cShared reading as a tool in healthcare and education\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prof. Sofia Laine<\/strong> (Finnish Youth Research Society), exploring \u201cCo-research and co-creation with young people\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Niila Rahko<\/strong> (Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare), who addressed \u201cEthical collaboration in Indigenous research in S\u00e1pmi\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&raquo;4.27.4&#8243; She outlined the principles and ethics of participatory and indigenous research methodologies, emphasising co-creation, mutual respect, and the inclusion of communities in every phase of the research process. The presentation highlighted how collaborative and arts-based interventions in schools can promote mental health and foster inclusive dialogue among youth. Together, they explored how existing youth-focused initiatives in such as Arctic Youth are aligned with the values and goals of the True North partnership. The day ended with a social gathering at Full Steam, where participants learned about the history of cod fishing in Troms\u00f8 and its importance for the local economy. She highlighted systemic challenges in child welfare services, particularly the lack of ethnic registration for S\u00e1mi children, which leads to their invisibility and a modern form of Norwegianization. It highlighted the impact of upbringing conditions such as home, school, community environments, and family economy on children&#8217;s development, mental and physical health, and social life.
