{"id":48,"date":"2018-11-08T20:17:57","date_gmt":"2018-11-08T19:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/awora\/?page_id=48"},"modified":"2018-12-05T09:42:07","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T08:42:07","slug":"statute","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/awora\/statute\/","title":{"rendered":"Idea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AWORA is a network for people at UiT active in promoting visibility of women in science, the humanities and the arts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why do we need AWORA?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women win fewer prices than men<\/li>\n<li>Women are less likely to be invited to conferences\/to give talks<\/li>\n<li>Women are less likely to have leading positions (professors\/leaders)<\/li>\n<li>Women experience implicit bias when applying for funding\/positions (e.g. they have to achieve more to be rated equally good)<\/li>\n<li>Women earn less, have more career challenges, and are more likely to leave academia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What are the AWORA aims?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>promote the visibility of women in science and art (through articles, exhibitions, Wikipedia etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Raise awareness of women scholars and their expertise<\/li>\n<li>Recognise and acknowledge women\u2019s work in academia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What will AWORA do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nominate women to research prizes nationally, internationally, and at UiT<\/li>\n<li>arrange workshops and other activities on \u2018implicit bias\u2019 or \u2018acknowledgement\u2019<\/li>\n<li>comment on things that are highly unbalanced in terms of gender (like conferences with no female speakers \u2026)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AWORA Implementation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everyone can become an AWORA member if she\/he is active in promoting AWORA goals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AWORA is a network for people at UiT active in promoting visibility of women in science, the humanities and the arts.
