“Oasis of life”- paper one of the most downloaded, highlighting benefits of Open Access publishing

Emmelie Åström was the first author on the article in Limnology and Oceanography, exploring Arctic methane cold seeps as biological oases.

Former CAGE PhD Candidate Emmelie Åström was pleased to discover that her 3rd PhD article entitled ‘Methane cold seeps as biological oases in the high-Arctic deep sea‘ was one of the most downloaded papers amongst articles published in Limnology and Oceanography between January 2017 and December 2018.

In line with Norway’s interest in moving toward a full open-access model for public research results, the article was made openly available for download without a journal subscription. ‘This highlights even more the benefits and recognition achievable through open access publishing and good scientific outreach,’ says Åström.

She successfully defended her thesis on April 20th, 2018.

For more information on her research, read the CAGE press release here.
