Naima El bani Altuna, Post Doctoral Researcher
Naima is a post doctoral fellow in the Pleistocene to Present: Methane, Ocean Acidification and CO2 research group.
Naima El bani Altuna is a postdoctoral researcher in the ARCLIM research group at UiT-The Arctic University of Norway. She is interested in understanding paleoceanographic changes in the Nordic Seas and the Arctic Ocean at times of past climate change since the last interglacial. She completed her PhD at CAGE in September 2021, in which she investigated such ocean-climate interactions using mainly benthic foraminiferal assemblages and the geochemical composition of their shells (oxygen isotopes and Mg/Ca as paleotemperature proxy). In her current research as part of the ARCLIM project, she uses Neodymium isotopes to study ocean mixing and circulation changes during the last interglacial. She holds a BSc in Geology from the University of the Basque Country and a MSc in Paleoceanography from the University of Bordeaux.
