Pierre-Antoine Dessandier, Post Doctoral Fellow
Pierre-Antoine is a post doctoral fellow in the Methane Seepage History research area at CAGE.
The goals of his research include understanding of the influence of methane seepage on the faunal community, tracking methane emissions from the isotopic signal based on biogenic carbonate, and understanding the dynamics of methane release. His future plans are to study Arctic climates and the effects of under-ice hydrothermal venting on a slow-spreading oceanic ridge.
Other research interests: studying Arctic paleoclimates using proxies such as benthic and planktonic foraminifera, statistics, stable isotopes, pore water geochemistry and sedimentary parameters, in order to constrain the chronology of methane release events and investigate their relationship with climate and environmental changes. This work is supported by the NORCRUST project.
Pierre-Antoine has a PhD in paleoclimatology and marine sedimentology from the University of Bordeaux (France), focusing on land-marine transfer of organic matter using assemblages of benthic foraminifera (living and fossil) and environmental parameters, such as sedimentary (XRF-scans, magnetic susceptibility) and geochemical proxies (stable isotopes, organic carbon, nitrogen, pigments, amino acids, biomarkers).
