Stefan Beaussier, Short Term Researcher
Stefan is a short-term researcher in the Gas Hydrate and Free Gas Reservoirs research group.
His current research at CAGE focuses on the modelling of the stress field in West-Svalbard. The aim is to model the highly-oblique rifting between Greenland and Svalbard in the late Miocene, and the subsequent ultra-slow seafloor spreading along the Molloy and Knipovich ridges that continue to this day.
Stefan received his doctoral degree in 2018 from ETH-Zurich in Switzerland, where he worked on the effects of structural and magmatic inheritance on geodynamics processes. In particular, he worked on how inheritance from extensional processes (e.g. rifting, seafloor spreading) affects near-ridge subduction initiation and subduction initiation at passive margins.
Stefan works within the SEAMSTRESS project under the supervision of Andreia-Plaza Favorela and Stefan Buenz.
