Nofima The food research institute
Nofima, the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research, was established January 1, 2008. Nofima is one of Europe’s largest institutes for applied research within the fields of fisheries, aquaculture and food.

Northern Research Institute
Norut is a multi-disciplinary research and innovation group, which provides services of high quality and practical applicability for our clients. We are located in the three North Norwegian counties, and have particular competence in issues relating to the High North. Norut, which has 30 years’ experience, carries out basic research, applied research and commercialisation.
Institute of Marine Research
With a staff of almost 700 the Institute of Marine Research is Norway’s largest centre of marine science. Our main task is to provide advice to Norwegian authorities on aquaculture and the ecosystems of the Barents Sea, the Norwegian Sea, the North Sea and the Norwegian coastal zone. For this reason, about fifty percent of our activities are financed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries
Norwegian Polar Institute
Norway’s central governmental institution for scientific research, mapping and environmental monitoring in the Arctic and the Antarctic. The Institute advises Norwegian authorities on matters concerning polar environmental management and is the official environmental management body for Norway’s Antarctic territorial claims.

Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT)
Kongsberg Satellite Services AS (KSAT) is a commercial Norwegian company, uniquely positioned to provide ground station and earth observation services for polar orbiting satellites. With three interconnected polar ground stations; Tromsø at 69°N, Svalbard (SvalSat) at 78°N and Antarctic TrollSat Station at 72°S, combined with mid-latitude network of stations in South Africa, Dubai, Singapore and Mauritius, KSAT operates over 60 antennas optimally positioned for access to polar and geostationary orbits.
KSAT is also the world-leading company for maritime monitoring and surveillances services using data from several radar and optical services. KSAT is offering unbiased multi-mission near-realtime services providing accurate information to oil and gas and government customers based on satellites to users worldwide in less than 20 minutes.
BioTech North is an emerging biotechnology cluster of enterprises and R&D organizations, which cooperate closely with regional funding and development actors (triple helix). As bioactive molecules and compounds from Arctic marine resources form the basis of activities for the majority of the cluster members, BioTech North serves as a marine biotech cluster. The majority of BioTech North’s enterprises are active within life science applications and markets.
To date the cluster contains around thirty organizations from both the private and public sector.
