Paul Wassmann is the co-leader of CarbonBridge. Paul is professor at the UiT – The Arctic University of Norway has in the later years worked hard for a pan-arctic view in Arctic research. Paul has recently published a book on life in Svalbard and is responsible for outreach activities within CarbonBridge.

Sünnje Basedow is the leader of CarbonBridge WP1. Sünnje is post doc at the University of Nordland, working with laser optical plankton counters to identify the spacial and temporal distribution and composition of zooplankton in the sea. In CarbonBridge, Sünnje investigates the seasonal distribution of zooplankton in the Atlantic water flowing into the Arctic Ocean.

Arild Sundfjord is co-leader of CarbonBridge WP1. Arild is a physical oceanographer at the Norwegian Polar Institute, working with microturbulences in the sea. In CarbonBridge, Arild investigates turbulence-induced fluxes of nitrate from deeper to shallower water layer. Further, Arild is part of the CarbonBridge team working on estimating the volume inflow of Atlantic water into the Arctic Ocean.

Camilla Svensen is the leader of CarbonBridge WP2. Camilla is associated professor at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, working on the role of small metazooplankton in regulating carbon fluxes in the sea. In CarbonBridge, Camilla is concerned with the distribution and production of these small zooplankton.

Kalle Olli is co-leader of CarbonBridge WP2. Kalle is working at the University of Tartu, Estonia, with a broad interest i planktonic processes and vertical flux regulation. In CarbonBridge, Kalle investigates the spatial and temporal size distribution of biogenic particles in the sea. Further, he will be integrating most field data by inverse modelling.

Lena Seuthe leads CarbonBridge WP3. Lena is a postdoc at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, working on trophic interactions among microbial organisms, such as flagellates, ciliates and dinoflagellates. In CarbonBridge, Lena studies grazing rates on bacteria and is part of the nutrient regeneration experiments.

Jean-Éric Tremblay is co-leader of CarbonBridge WP3. Jean-Éric is professor at the University of Laval, Quebec/Canada. Jean-Éric research interest is functional roles of phytoplankton in organic matter fluxes, food webs and the air-sea exchange of CO2. In CarbonBridge, Jean-Éric investigates the ratio of new and regenerated primary production, as well as nutrient regeneration.

Ingrid Ellingsen is leader of CarbonBridge WP4. Ingrid is a modeller at SINTEF in Trondheim, working with the coupled physical-biological ecosystemmodel SINMOD. In CarbonBridge, Ingrid is using the SINMOD model to simulate possible future physical and biological scenarios for the Arctic Ocean based on selected IPCC scenarios.

Melissapres

Melissa Chierici is a marine chemist working at the Institute for Marine Research in Tromsø. In CarbonBridge, Melissa studies the carbonate system of Atlantic and Arctic water masses and takes part in estimating sea-air CO2 exchange in the study area based on field data and model runs.

Maria Vernet is a researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In CarbonBridge, Maria investigates particluate and dissolved primary production in the water column. In addition she studies phytoplankton proxies in sediment cores from north off Svalbard to estimate past primary productivity in the region.
