There?\u2019 in North Sami]<\/h2>\n<p>The project is funded by a 7 million NOK (app. \u20ac 900.000) from the\u00a0<em>Norwegian Research Council<\/em>, and 250.000 NOK (app. \u20ac 32.000) from<em>\u00a0Sparebankens Gavefond\/Troms\u00f8 Research Foundation<\/em>. If you are a parent of a child participating in the project, or if you are interested in the more applied aspects of\u00a0<em>DASAGO<\/em>, we direct you to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/dasago\/\" target=\"_top\">our more popularized webpage<\/a>\u00a0(currently mostly in North Sami, but soon also to appear in Norwegian).<\/p>\n<p>The project DASAGO addresses first language acquisition of North Sami. North Sami is one of the indigenous languages spoken in Northern Norway and Northern Sweden. It belongs to the Finno-Ugric language family, and is on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unesco.org\/culture\/languages-atlas\/\" target=\"_top\"><em>UNESCO<\/em>&#8216;s list of endangered languages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>DASAGO focuses on syntactic and phonological aspects of North Sami child language. We have three main subprojects:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<strong>CDI<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>We are adapting the language assessment tool\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sci.sdsu.edu\/cdi\/\" target=\"_top\"><em>MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventory (CDI)<\/em>\u00a0<\/a>into North Sami. The CDI exists for more than 50 different languages, among them, our neighbouring languages Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Russian, as well as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hf.uio.no\/iln\/forskning\/prosjekter\/spraakutvikling\/index.html\" target=\"_top\">Norwegian<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe plan is to pilot this tool with selected families early in 2012.\u2022<strong>\u00a0Corpus<\/strong><br \/>\nThe project will develop one longitudinal corpus from two monolingual North Sami children, and one longitudinal corpus from one North Sami\/Norwegian bilingual child. We are currently collecting and transcribing data from a three-year-old monolingual North Sami-speaking boy.\u2022\u00a0<strong>Focused experiments<\/strong><br \/>\nWe will conduct focused experiments on various aspects in North Sami child language, such as the OV-VO alternation, Null subjects, negation, word-medial consonant clusters and grade alternation.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0[Dasago\u00a0means approximately \u2018Where to?
