She is also the\u00a0project leader and principal investigator in a project on North Sami child language acquisition (DASAGO), see below.<\/p>\n<p>Bentzen was a PhD student at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/castl.uit.no\/\" target=\"_top\">CASTL<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/castl.uit.no\/\" target=\"_top\">\u00a0(Center for Advanced Study in Theoretical Linguistics)\u00a0<\/a>between September 2003 and October 2007, and she was the first candidate to be awarded a PhD from CASTL, in 2007. Her thesis, entitled\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ub.uit.no\/munin\/handle\/10037\/1209?language=no\" target=\"_top\"><em>Order and Structure in Embedded Clauses in Northern Norwegian<\/em><\/a>, was on verb placement in Northern Norwegian and other varieties of Scandinavian.<\/p>\n<h2>Research interests<\/h2>\n<p>Kristine Bentzen is currently running the\u00a0project\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/castl.uit.no\/index.php\/acquisition\/research-projects\/dasago\" target=\"_top\"><strong><em>DASAGO<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(<em>Davvis\u00e1megiel m\u00e1n\u00e1id giellaovd\u00e1neapmi<\/em>\u00a0&#8212; North Sami child language development), which she\u00a0and Berit Anne Bals Baal landed a\u00a0<strong>7 million NOK grant<\/strong>\u00a0from the Norwegian Research Council for. The project started in July 2011, and will run until the end of 2017.\u00a0Within the DASAGO project,\u00a0Bentzen&#8217;s research projects include VO-OV alternations related to information structure in Sami languages (both adult language and acquisition).\u00a0In addition, she is working on the acquisition of null and overt pronominal subjects, and of negation in North Sami. Within this project\u00a0we\u00a0have also adapted the MacArthur-Bates\u00a0<em>Communicative Development Inventory (CDI)<\/em>\u00a0into North Sami. We are currently conducting extensive investigations of vocabulary development using this tool.<\/p>\n<p>Kristine is a member of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/lava\/\" target=\"_top\">LAVA<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/lava\/\" target=\"_top\">\u00a0research group (Language Acquisition, Variation &amp; Attrition)<\/a>. Her research focus within this group is on acquisition and variation. Many of her ongoing projects revolve around variation related to the interface between syntax and information structure, both in adult language and in acquisition.\u00a0One recent and ongoing project re-examines object shift in Mainland Scandinavian (joint with Merete Anderssen), as well as how these complex patterns are acquired by children across Mainland Scandinavian languages (joint with Merete Anderssen, and Christian Waldmann in Ume\u00e5). Another ongoing project involved the availability of embedded V2 in Norwegian.
