The highlight every year is the annual spring\u00a0\u2018colloquium\u2019 featuring about twenty hour-long talk slots by speakers selected through\u00a0a highly competitive double-blind abstract selection process. It was held in Troms\u00f8 in 2007, and before that in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>The 2017\u00a0colloquium was in Leiden, where Troms\u00f8 was represented by Martin Kr\u00e4mer at the Prosody-Melody workshop, Terje Lohndal and Tanja Kupisch in the Heritage Language workshop, and by\u00a0Laura Downing, who co-organized a workshop on the Syntax-Phonology Interface.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 GLOW\u00a0will be in Budapest, and after that it will be held in Oslo in 2019, and in Rabat in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>At this year\u2019s colloquium, our very own Gillian Ramchand was tapped to serve as chair of the GLOW board.\u00a0That\u2019s a great honor so congratulations are in order!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The organization Generative Linguistics in the Old World\u00a0has been promoting generative linguistics in Europe and elsewhere for about 40 years.
