Thursday, January 23 | DAY 1 – General Topics

  • What is the Global Dataverse Community Consortium (GDCC) / the role of GDCC? How can GDCC help “Dataverse institutions”?
  • Speakers of Use Cases: How would you like GDCC to help you? (max. 5 min each)
  • Other possible topics (some of these areas of collaboration might be addressed under the two bullet points above):
    • DataTags, implementation in European Dataverse installations
    • Repository certification (e.g. CoreTrustSeal)
    • Service provider for Dataverse  in Europe (or internationally), e.g. sky storage service to run Dataverse repositories and to provide long-term preservation of data
    • European Dataverse workshop as regular event
    • Apply for external funding for development projects on Dataverse and integrations

Friday, January 24 | DAY 2 – Open Talk & Hands-on Workshop

  • Target Group: UiT students and employees, workshop participants

Hands-on workshop and further discussion on Dataverse

This workshop will be run in three parallel sessions.

Session 1 – Technical Topics (hands-on & discussion)

  • Topics: This session is about the technical features of Dataverse and Dataverse integrations. Possible topics:
    • System architecture
    • Installation
    • UI and UX
    • System administration
    • API
    • Integrations
    • Other topics, to be suggested by participants
  • Target Group: IT Staff, Application Developers, System Administrators
  • Session Chair: Vyacheslav Tykhonov (DANS)
  • Contributors: Oliver Bertuch (FZJ), Gustavo Durand (Harvard) Stefan Kasperger (AUSSDA), and James Myers (QDR, TDL, GDCC)

Session 2 – Organizational Topics (discussion)

  • Topics: In this session the discussions of day 1 will be continued and topics will be elaborated in more depth. Possible topics:
    • Which functionalities are crucial for the European context?
    • Sustainable Business Models
    • Other topics, to be suggested by participants
  • Target Group: Policy Officers, Repository Managers, Curators,

Session 3 – Configuration and Workflows (hands-on & discussion)

  • Topics: This session will be a mostly hands-on session about how to configure Dataverse through its graphical user interface, thus no (in-depth) computing/programming knowledge is needed. Possible topics:
    • User management
    • Metadata schemas
    • Dataset templates
    • Curation workflows
    • Other topics, to be suggested by participants
  • Target Group: Repository Managers, Collection Managers, Curators
