About UiT

University of Tromsø — The Arctic University of Norway

is the north­ern­most uni­ver­si­ty of the world and was found­ed in 1972. 12000 stu­dents and 2700 staff study and work at UiT’s 4 cam­pus­es. Teach­ing is research-based. UiT has due to its loca­tion a spe­cial ded­i­ca­tion to North­ern issues, but its sev­en fac­ul­ties also offer a broad range of study pro­grammes. The aca­d­e­m­ic com­mu­ni­ty in Trom­sø is high­ly inter­na­tion­al. More than 20% of the aca­d­e­m­ic staff and 10% of the stu­dent body are from abroad.
