University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway is the northernmost university of the world and was founded in 1972. 12000 students and 2700 staff study and work at UiT’s 4 campuses. Teaching is research-based. UiT has due to its location a special dedication to Northern issues, but its seven faculties also offer a broad range of study programmes. The academic community in Tromsø is highly international. More than 20% of the academic staff and 10% of the student body are from abroad.
