Jessica N.M. Schechinger is a PhD candidate in international law at the University of Glasgow, conducting research on ‘Private (Armed) Security Actors in the Contemporary Fight against Maritime Piracy: Issues of International Responsibility’. She is also a research assistant to her two supervisors, Professor Christian J. Tams and Professor Robin Geiss. Jessica is a co-convenor of the European Society of International Law Interest Group on the Law of the Sea, and a PGR member of the Research Group on International Law, Conflict and Security at the University of Glasgow School of Law.
Jessica holds an LLB in Law and an LLM in Public International Law, both from Utrecht University. She also graduated from the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy. Jessica previously worked as a junior researcher in the research project on Shared Responsibility in International Law (SHARES) at the University of Amsterdam; and as a research assistant at the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea (NILOS).
