The programme is designed to give students an expertise in understanding and critically analysing the situation of indigenous peoples in terms of legal rights, political situations, economic adaptions, textual representations and individual and collective identifications with their cultural heritage. The challenges of modernity and globalisation are dealt with specifically. The students will develop a range of key academic skills, such as:
• General methodological and analytical skills
• Evaluating and applying theoretical knowledge to diverse issues in indigenous studies
• The ability to design and carry out a research project
