With its detachable milk steamer, cappuccinos are a fine alternative to the standard elixir, or you can choose an espresso to fuel you towards your next Nature publication. But don&#8217;t think you can just walk up and demand your taste buds to be satisfied immediately: even our most experienced scientists still struggle to decipher its seemingly simple controls on a daily basis!
