The event was organized by Florian Ströhl and Krishna Agarwal, both members of the Optics group at UiT, and had a duration of 2.5 days (17, 18 and 19 of February). The workshop centered on state-of-art microscopy techniques used for live-cell and included a set of lectures given by world-renowned guests: Thomas Huser (Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM)), Gabriel Popescu (Quantitative Phase Microscopy (QPM)) and James Manton (Light-sheet Microscopy). In addition to these 3 lectures, 2 more were given by UiT’s own researchers Deanna Wolfson and Azeem Ahmad. Deanna’s lecture was about the applications of SIM in biological research, while Azeem’s was about spatially incoherent quantitative phase microscopy. Complementary to the lectures, the participants had the opportunity of showing their own research through flash talks and poster sessions. In total, there were 50 participants coming from 6 countries.

For more information, visit: https://sites.google.com/view/mitoquant/microscopy-workshop

During the last week, UiT hosted an incredible workshop: “Next generation live-cell microscopy”.
