Together with his collaborators at the UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, namely Dr. Åsa Birgisdottir and professor Truls Myrmel, this technique will be applied to the study of mitochondrial transfer in heart cells cultured in the lab.

In simple words, this new technology will generate 3D views of the cells, similar to the famous holograms in Star Wars, allowing the identification and study of the different organelle’s dynamics, including the mitochondria.

It was a tough competition with over 2300 applicants and a success rate of 11%.

Hereby a short article provided by the UiT – The Arctic University of Norway (in Norwegian language):

https://uit.no/nyheter/artikkel?p_document_id=712139

Once again, congratulations Dr. Ströhl!

Congratulations to our young talent, Dr. Florian Ströhl, who has been granted 8 million NOK for his project: Development of Real Volumetric Microscopy through Single Objective Light-Sheet Imaging System (SOLIS) by the Research Council of Norway.
