Kristine Gu is a thesis-based LLM student at the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Professor Anna-Maria Hubert. With an interest in the law of the sea, her current research examines strategic environmental assessments as a tool in the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity. She is a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Law, and her work and studies are funded by Professor Hubert and Professor Neil Craik’s SSHRC project, The International Law of the Commons: Towards a Global Constitutional Framework. She holds a JD degree from the University of Calgary and a BCom degree in Business Economics and Law from the University of Alberta, and has practiced law in Toronto, Ontario.
