Thomas Bickl

Thomas Bickl defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “The border dispute between Croatia and Slovenia and its implications on EU enlargement” in June 2019. Working in the European Parliament, he is passionate about the rule of law, maritime and terrestrial delimitation, and cross-border integration in the post-Yugoslav sphere.

His current research covers bilateral conflict in the region with a particular focus on territorial issues. Thomas’ latest scientific paper – on the Pelješac bridge project in Croatia, maritime access for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the role of China in the Western Balkans – was published in “Croatian Political Science Review“ in March 2020.
