This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering research in on-chip spectroscopy, working to develop further an <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/onchipsensing\/2024\/06\/04\/on-chip-sensing-wins-tycho-jaegers-prize-for-electro-optics-2024\/\">award-winning concept<\/a> towards advancing knowledge and solving real-world problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Our team is at the forefront of on-chip Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (LAS), consistently pushing the boundaries of chip-based trace gas sensors. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where creativity and intellectual rigour thrive. Our current projects include <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/onchipsensing\/projects\/scent\/\">sCENT<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/onchipsensing\/projects\/uitrace-2\/\">UiTrace<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/onchipsensing\/projects\/scent2-micro-scale-photonic-trace-gas-sensor\/\">sCENT2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/onchipsensing\/projects\/scentsor-ultra-sensitive-and-compact-gas-sensor\/\">sCENTsor<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/onchipsensing\/projects\/unison-universal-sensor-based-on-electrically-pumped-mid-infrared-spectrometer-on-silicon-chips\/\">UNISON<\/a>, and we are committed to making impactful contributions to both the academic community and broader society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The selected PhD candidate will participate in creating stimulating new inventions, pushing the boundaries of on-chip sensing, conducting original research under the mentorship of more experienced members, participating in interdisciplinary and international projects and collaborations, presenting findings at conferences and publishing in high-impact journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">We are looking for a person with a strong academic background and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The ideal person would have demonstrated research experience, as well as a solid understanding of both nanophotonics and spectroscopy.
