The nearest train stations are Narvik in Norway (~230 km away) and Rovaniemi in Finland (~600 km away). Trains to Narvik (including the night train from Stockholm) can be booked through\u00a0<\/span>SJ<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>and to Rovaniemi through\u00a0<\/span>VR<\/span>\u200b<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/span> Onward travel by bus to Troms\u00f8 can be booked via Svipper<\/a> and Matkahuolto<\/a>, respectively.<\/p>\n

Troms\u00f8 is also served by the coastal ferry, Hurtigruten<\/a>, which begins its route in Bergen. Travelling from Bergen-Troms\u00f8 will take ~4 days.<\/p>\n

For those wishing to fly, Troms\u00f8 is well-connected internationally, served by many direct routes from across Europe (see map). Check the Avinor website<\/a> for further details on flight operators.<\/p>\n

Numerous hotels can be found within Troms\u00f8 city centre, but demand from tourists can be high during June. It is therefore advised to book as soon as possible. Airbnb<\/a> and Troms\u00f8 Lodge & Camping<\/a> are also worth checking out for alternative accommodation.<\/p>\n

The LOC will cover the costs for a limited number of single rooms with shared bathrooms from the university accommodation. These rooms will be available to PhD\/MSc\/BSc students on a first-come, first-served basis during registration.<\/p>\n

Troms\u00f8 airport is located on the island of Troms\u00f8ya, only a few kilometres away from the conference venue and the city centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The airport express coach (flybussen) runs between the airport, UiT, and Troms\u00f8 city centre, with a return ticket costing 200 NOK. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to the city centre and there are several stops and pick-up points at the major hotels throughout the city. Check the Bussring website<\/a> for more info about prices and timetables.<\/p>\n

City bus routes 24, 40 and 42 run between the airport and Troms\u00f8 city centre. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at the airport bus stop, or in the Svipper app<\/a>. Note:<\/strong> tickets cannot be bought onboard city buses.
Journey times are slightly longer at ~20 minutes,<\/p>\n

A single ticket <\/a>costs NOK 48 during rush hours. Outside rush hour (weekdays 09:00-14:00 and 17:00-01:00) the cost is reduced to NOK 26. <\/span>A 24-hour bus pass costs NOK 133, while a 7-day bus pass costs NOK 311.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There is also a taxi rank outside the airport terminal and several taxi ranks in downtown Troms\u00f8. The taxi fare from the airport to the city centre during the daytime on weekdays is approximately 280 NOK. A higher fare applies on weekends and in the evening\/at night. Taxis can also be pre-booked using the app Taxifix<\/a>, or by ringing Troms\u00f8 Taxi (+47 03011) or Din Taxi (+47 02045).<\/p>\n

While the snow in the city will have melted away by June, temperatures will probably still feel spring-like (mean 12.3\u00b0<\/span>C). June is also a relatively dry month, though being on the Norwegian coast means rain showers are likely, with an average of 10 precipitation days expected during the month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
