The platform has a flat organization consisting of a network of researchers at the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.uit.no\/startsida\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Arctic University of Norway<\/span><\/a>, each contributing with access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/uit.no\/forskning\/forskningsgrupper\/sub?sub_id=360895&amp;p_document_id=360884\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">instrumentation <\/span><\/a>as well as their expertise in the <a href=\"https:\/\/uit.no\/forskning\/forskningsgrupper\/sub?p_document_id=360884&amp;sub_id=360939\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">analytical- or computational methods<\/span><\/a>. The figure above shows schematically\u00a0how a question that is the result of\u00a0upstream\u00a0work\u00a0can be put into the left connector, whereupon SmallStruct allocates the resources needed to solve that particular structural problem and delivers the result downstream at the right connector. As an example, if you hover the mouse cursor over the figure it illustrates the response to such a query, in this case\u00a0about the relative and absolute stereochemistry of a molecule\u00a0(when crystallization is not\u00a0feasible), activating the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance- (NMR), <em>Ab initio<\/em> calculation-\u00a0(DFT) and Optical Rotation (VCD, ROA, ORD)\u00a0branches required to answer the question.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>History<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>MabCent-SFI was launched 2007 as a centre for research based innovation with a focus on marine bioprospecting. It is based in Troms\u00f8 which allows relatively near access to arctic, sub-arctic and marine organisms. Arctic marine organisms are forced\u00a0to\u00a0adapt to life in an extreme environment\u00a0in order to survive.
