We are looking for two postdocs, two PhD candidates and a lab engineer.\u00a0The K.G. Jebsen – Thrombosis Research and Expertise Center (TREC) is located in Troms\u00f8, at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway.<\/p>\n

Professor John-Bjarne Hansen is the head of K.G. Jebsen TREC. The center has 5.2 permanent scientific positions (professors), three technical positions, and 15-20 temporary scientific positions (PhD-students and postdoctors). In addition, K.G. Jebsen TREC has partners in Troms\u00f8, Bod\u00f8, Oslo, Stockholm, Leiden (The Netherlands), and San Diego (USA).<\/p>\n

The overall aim of K.G. Jebsen TREC is to identify novel inherited and environmental risk factors and extend the understanding of the pathogenesis in venous thromboembolism (VTE).<\/p>\n

Senior lab engineer:
\n<\/strong>A permanent position as a senior engineer at the university of Troms\u00f8, at TREC. The job includes responsibility of tasks related to establishment, maintenance and operation of an animal lab. Conducting protocols for in vivo-trials, collecting and analyzing data are other responsibilities. Depending on the candidate’s experience, additional training by TRECs partners may be required to achieve the desired skills in order to perform trials in specialized thrombosis models.<\/p>\n

Postdoctoral position for\u00a0the project\u00a0\u201c<\/em>Comorbidities and risk of venous thromboembolism<\/em>\u201d:
\n<\/em><\/strong>The position of postdoctoral fellow is a fixed term position for a period of 3 years. The main objective of the appointment as a post-doctoral research fellow is to qualify for work in senior academic positions.\u00a0The working hours shall be utilized for research, research-related activities and research administration.<\/p>\n

The main objectives of the project will therefore be to explore the association between comorbidities and VTE, and investigate potential mediators and biomarkers related to these associations.<\/p>\n

Admission to a PhD program is a prerequisite for employment, and the program period starts on commencement of the position. The PhD Candidate shall participate in the faculty\u2019s organized research training, and the PhD project shall be completed during the period of employment.<\/div>\n

The position of postdoctoral fellow is a fixed term position for a period of 3 years. The main objective of the appointment as a post-doctoral research fellow is to qualify for work in senior academic positions.\u00a0The working hours shall be utilized for research, research-related activities and research administration.<\/div>\n

The main aim of this project to establish a unique in vitro model that mimic the blood flow and hypoxic conditions within the site of valvular sinuses in order to extend the understanding of the pathogenesis of venous thrombosis.<\/div>\n

The PhD position is for a fixed term, with the objective is completion of research training to the level of a doctoral degree.\u00a0Admission to a PhD program is a prerequisite for employment, and the program period starts on commencement of the position. The PhD Candidate shall participate in the faculty\u2019s organized research training, and the PhD project shall be completed during the period of employment.\u00a0The normal period of employment is four years.<\/div>\n
\n

The work will combine state-of-the-art methodology, collaboration and close contact with ongoing epidemiological and genetic studies of VTE, used as guidelines to define the right targets and\/or to support novel findings and views.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
