Hi, I am Nadia Arshad<\/a>, working as a Doctorate candidate in the clinical epidemiology of venous thromboembolism (VTE) at Thrombosis Research Expertise Centre (TREC). Currently, my Project is about VTE associated recurrence and deaths. VTE is a combined term and the formation of blood clot in a blood vessel, most commonly deep vein of leg (called deep vein thrombosis) is its major cause. A blood clot in the leg breaks off and travels to the lungs (called a pulmonary embolism) is one of the major life-threatening complications of VTE.<\/p>\n

In continuation to my Project, I want to share the conclusion of my presentation in TREC research seminar at Sommar\u00f8y on February 5 2016. Even with an increased use of blood-thinning medicines and the development of diagnostic procedures during the last few decades, the formation of blood clot in the deep veins of the body remains a major problem and this should be given proper attention. TREC seminar at Sommar\u00f8y is a significant biannual academic and social event arranged by TREC and attended by its members and other partner-members coming to Sommar\u00f8y from around the world. \u00a0White sand beaches, lakes with clear and vibrant water, steep mountains covered with snow and breathtaking scenery makes Sommar\u00f8y one of the world\u2019s most attractive tourist spot in all weathers.<\/p>\n
