It serves as a platform where linguists from around the world can deposit their datasets, free of charge. The repository is open access, meaning that all research materials are freely available to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TROLLing is a curated repository. All depositors receive expert guidance from experienced curators about how to make their datasets as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/fair-principles\/\">Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR)<\/a> as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TROLLing is owned and operated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.uit.no\/ub\">University Library<\/a> at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. Oversight and strategic direction are provided by the TROLLing Steering Committee, supported by an international Scientific Advisory Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The repository is a special collection of <a href=\"https:\/\/dataverse.no\/\">DataverseNO<\/a>. DataverseNO is built on the open-source data repository application <a href=\"https:\/\/dataverse.org\/\">The Dataverse Project<\/a>, developed by the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University in collaboration with many contributors worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TROLLing is also a C Centre within <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clarin.eu\/\">CLARIN<\/a> (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure), a European network of data repositories. It is harvested by CLARIN\u2019s Virtual Language Observatory (VLO). TROLLing supports data harvesting via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.openarchives.org\/pmh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OAI-PMH<\/a> using the following address: <a href=\"https:\/\/dataverse.no\/oai?verb=ListRecords&amp;metadataPrefix=oai_dc&amp;set=trolling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/dataverse.no\/oai?verb=ListRecords&amp;metadataPrefix=oai_dc&amp;set=trolling<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is TROLLing really free?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TROLLing is operated by a <a href=\"https:\/\/site.uit.no\/trolling\/people\/\">dedicated team<\/a> at the UiT University Library. We are committed to maintaining TROLLing as an open-access repository with no deposit fees, for the benefit of the international linguistic community. However, operating such a platform is not without costs. So, if you are applying for funding for a project and plan to deposit data from the project in TROLLing, we encourage you to include funding for data curation and preservation in your application.
