FilmCam Archives

VISCAM  PROJECT – Film Archives

FilmCam Archives  is a collection of films and thesis made by former students and professors of Visual Anthropology from UIT – The Arctic University of Norway in and about Africa. The collection emphasizes the huge diversity of the continent and the variety of topics which the students found inspiring. At the same time it also brings to focus recurrent themes that appear in the students’ research: migration, minority group interests, gender, industry, religion, war and education being some examples.

The purpose of the FilmCam Archive is to provide a learning index for VISCAM students in Cameroon. In addition to the films and thesis from Africa there are also films and thesis from Norway which emphasize the South-North perspectives that VISCAM cultivates, as well as stimulating examples from Japan, Nepal and the USA which provide additional points of view.
