Dimitri Kalenitchenko’s main research focus is the understanding of the factor that constrains the capacity of a microbial community to be resilient against a disturbance of its ecosystem. He holds a PhD degree (2015) in marine microbial ecology and an MSc degree in Oceanography from the Sorbonne University in Paris.
His PhD was focused on the understanding of the microbial succession that occurs when the benthic ecosystem is disturbed by an uncommon load of refractory carbon. Then he went to the Laval University in Québec for a first postdoctoral fellowship where he investigated the effect of the ice retreat on the microbial ecosystem in the Nares Strait.
