She served as co-leader of her research group from August 2018-August 2019. Her research interests include paleoclimate, paleoceanography, micropaleontology (with a focus on foraminifera and diatoms), abrupt climate, oceanographic and ocean chemistry changes, and effects of ocean acidification on the marine calcifiers (mainly planktonic foraminifera and pteropods) and their (trace) elemental incorporation in polar water masses (the Arctic Ocean).
Kasia holds a PhD degree in marine geology from the Department of Geosciences at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway and a MSc degree in marine science and paleontology (diatoms) from the University of Szczecin in Poland. She has gained experience from numerous research stays e.g. in the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW) Warnemünde (Germany), the GEOTP Research Centre in Geochemistry and Geodynamics, Montreal (Canada) and the Alfred Wegener Institute, Bermerhaven (Germany). Kasia has authored and contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications.
