He began at CAGE in August 2019 and is part of the SEAMSTRESS group, a project with a focus on: 1) The quantification of stress-generating mechanisms along the Svalbard passive margin and 2) Analyze the effect of regional stress on near-surface fluid/gas hydrate dynamics. His task will be to incorporate the effect of Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) into the calculation of the regional tectonic stress of the Svalbard region.
Rémi received his PhD from the University of Uppsala in Sweden where he worked on various geodynamical problems using numerical modelling tools (Comsol Multiphysics, Python codes, Matlab …). His thesis focused on the dynamics of volcanic intrusions (dykes, sills ….) and on crystal rotation in typical sub-volcanic systems (inflating magma chamber, convective cells, dyke-reservoir transitions …). In addition, Rémi own a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Geodynamics and Natural Hazards, both acquired at the University of Montpellier II (France).
Rémi works under the supervision of Andreia Plaza-Faverola (UiT, Norway) and Björn Lund (Uppsala Universitet, Sweden).
