Why is not my article/dataset/contribution located in the correct geographic position when I use the Search by map?

  • The Search by map is using a backend database (geolocation database) of 270,000 existing locations from the polar regions.
  • These are locations with pre-existing geographic information (i.e., latitude and longitude).
  • If your contribution includes (in the title, abstract or keywords) a location name that matches one of the locations in the geolocation database, the pre-existing geographic information will be assigned automatically to your contribution.
  • If your contribution is plotted in the wrong location, please inform us using the following form (https://site.uit.no/open-polar/contact/) and/or suggest a new geographic location using the following form (https://site.uit.no/open-polar/new_geo/).
