The Faculty of Science and Technology has an extensive web page (in norwegian) with information for supervisors of PhD students. The web page covers many steps, from hiring new PhD students through choosing the individual training component of 30 ECTS to selecting a committee and approval of a PhD thesis.
Relevant documentation includes the regulations (in norwegian and english) for a PhD at the Faculty of Science and Technology, the ethical guidelines for supervision (in norwegian and english) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway and the application form for proposing a dissertation committee.
RESULT offers a course in research supervision (in norwegian) annually starting in autumn.
To make changes to the supervision team, the PhD fellow or main supervisor can send an email with the suggested changes to the Head of Administration fo the department. He will take care of the necessary paperwork to get the change approved at the Faculty. The PhD student and all supervisors will receive an email describing the change, and all will be asked to approve and confirm by replying to the email. The replies will be appended to the document which will be sent to the Faculty.
Relevant pages on this website are the information for new PhD fellows, the information on the project plan and the information about PhD courses. The following checklist is meant to help PhD supervisors in the process around newly arriving PhD fellows.

- Ensure the PhD fellow has the information for new employees at the Department of Chemistry (download from the bottom right here).
- Ensure all PhD supervisors are familiar with the ethical guidelines for supervision at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
- Ensure the new PhD fellow reads and signs the Safety regulations and sends the signed last page to the Head of Administration. Note: the safety regulations have to be read by everyone who will work in one of the buildings of the Department of Chemistry. This includes theoretical chemists and bioinformaticians.
