In November 2025, the Munin conference gathered scholarly communication professionals/enthusiasts for the 20th year in a row. In the course of time, many different topics have been discussed, and many people have attended Munin both physically in Tromsø and online.

Munin has been organized by research support staff at UiT The Arctic University of Norway (mainly at the university library), and we have enjoyed the process very much. After twenty years, it was a fitting point to sit down and reflect on how Munin should continue.

It has now been decided that the Munin conference will go over to a biennial schedule, which will allow the organizers to free up time for other work tasks and will put less strain on the environment and institutional budgets. We still wish to gather participants physically, but the hotel prices in the northern lights season in Tromsø have become prohibitive in the recent years – which is why we will experiment with moving Munin away from its customary November–December period. We also need to take into consideration when the library staff members are available to help during the conference.

The next Munin will thus take place on 20–22 April, 2027.

We now have a bit more time than usual to form the call for next Munin and think about possible session formats and invited speaker candidates. In the meantime, we can promise that Munin will remain a conference for the community – by the community. Only this time it will be considerably sunnier. We hope that all the friends of the Munin conference will still be willing to come to Tromsø in, what is now, a little more than a year.
