Len Kamerling’s Filmography

In the 1970s, Professor Leonard J. Kamerling started teaching English courses focused on film writing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, as well as courses in anthropological and ethnographical film production, documentary journalism, and education. Additionally, he has served the institution as Curator of Film at the University of Alaska Museum of the North and as an English faculty member starting in 1999. For his service, he received the College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching Award for 2004-2005.

Mr. Kamerling’s films have won numerous awards. Twenty-two of these productions have received international distribution, including multiple films about Alaska and Alaska Native cultures, the most noted of which is “Uksuum Cauyai: The Drums of Winter,” which was included in the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry, in the United States of America. In 2018-2019, he was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to UiT – The Arctic University of Norway.
