Led by OCA (Organisation of Contemporary Art) and OSLO PILOT, the IKT (The International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art) Congress 2017 took take place in Oslo, but the IKT POST-CONGRESS was moved to Tromsø, May 22–23 2017. As part of this excursion ArcticSIZE was asked to guide the about 80 participants through the Polar Museum exhibition “Living Ice”. The three guided tours were a great success. The participants enthusiastically followed the comments and explanation given, despite the fact that they were probably tired from examining the many exhibitions throughout Tromsø. Many commented that they liked the combination of facts, concepts of understanding and placing our Arctic SIZE work in the political context in which we all live. It is surprising that we were asked to participate in the IKT POST-CONGRESS by a contemporary art organisation. Who would associate marine ecology work with contemporary art? Outreach work in Arctic SIZE has obviously the ability to reach out to parts of the society that not necessarily pay attention to nature and ecosystems.
