After years of preparation, the multi-disciplinary central Arctic observatory MOSAiC https://www.mosaic-expedition.org/ is underway! 600 scientists from 19 nations follow Nansen & his team’s footsteps to jointly improve our understanding of the Arctic Climate and Ecosystem and its ties to lower latitudes. Fife Arctic SIZE scientists including Rolf Gradinger, co-lead of the Ecosystem portion of MOSAiC, participated in the festive farewell event at the pier in Tromsø where RV Polarstern and Akademik Fedorov had been preparing their departure all week.
