Code of Conduct

This document outlines the Code of Conduct adopted for PalaeoArc 2025, hosted at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The aim of this document is to promote an open, inclusive, safe, and positive space, and to guide attendees and participants on the required behaviour.

These are guidelines and do not imply legal obligation. These guidelines are constructed based on the Code of Conduct from Arctic Frontiers, EGU, AGU, the World Health Organisation, the Arctic Council Secretariat Staff Rules and the Akvaplan Niva AS Staff Handbook.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) is committed to providing a harassment-free, safe, open, welcoming, respectful, and positive environment for its attendees, volunteers, and participants during PalaeoArc 2025. In particular:

  • PalaeoArc 2025 participants shall uphold the highest standards of integrity.
  • Any form of discrimination, bullying, intimidation, harassment, coercion, plagiarism, and censorship is unacceptable.
  • PalaeoArc 2025 participants are encouraged to report any misconduct to the LOC or PalaeoArc Steering Committee, and we encourage acts of misconduct and unethical behaviour to be intercepted where possible.
  • The LOC encourages all participants to distinguish between professional, evidence-based comments from their personal opinions when publicly presenting their work and/or taking part in discussions and activities.
  • Presenters should be aware of plagiarism and copyright laws and understand that copying others’ work and/or presentation is prohibited.

If there is any breach of conduct or witnessed misconduct, it should be reported in a timely manner to the LOC (either in person or by emailing palaeoarc2025@uit.no) or the PalaeoArc Steering Committee.
