The annual TODOS Christmas party and election is coming!

When? Friday, 4th of December, 6 pm

Where? Zoom (link will come later)

What? As everything is different this year, we will have it digitally. To still get some Christmas feeling, TODOS will pay for your food (Peppes Pizza)!

How does it work?

You sign up (link sent out by email) and next week we will contact you again with the menu you can choose from. When the party starts, the food will be delivered to you.

The event is a combination of the TODOS Christmas party and the elections, three new board members will be elected:

Board Chair – Public face of TODOS, chairs TODOS meetings, makes sure that TODOS is represented at university events and committees

Accountant – Handles the financial information, communicates plans and activities with UiT’s accounting department, keeps a balanced budget

Chair of Academic Affairs – Head of academic development for TODOS members, organizes academic and professional events

I starts at 5 pm in Storgata Camping. Everyone will get student prices for Minigolf, beer and wine.

TODOS is pleased to announce a side event to this year’s Munin Conference on Scholarly Publishing!

Dr. Stephen Eglen, from the University of Cambridge, will present:

“How (and why) to work as an open scientist in the 21st century”

The term “open science” is gaining in popularity, yet what does it mean?

In this talk I will describe what I think the term means, and will outline my personal reasons for why I think open science is sensible.

I will also talk about the related issue of reproducibility in science.

In the second part of the talk I will then give some practical suggestions for adopting open science practices.

Although the seminar is designed with PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows in mind, it is open to all!

On the 30th of November is the annual Tromsø Doctoral Students (TODOS) Christmas party at Studenthouse Driv. It is open to all PhD Candidates and PostDocs at The Arctic University of Norway.

When: November 30th, 2019, 18:00 – 22:00.

The Christmas party is one of the most popular events of the year. The Christmas party will be at Driv and we will have the place to ourselves from 18:00 – 22:00. Just like last year: the food is on us, the drinks are on you. We have delicious tapas on the menu.

General meeting with bowling fun!

The TODOS board invites you to our general meeting where we will present our annual report and hold elections for three positions in our board.

However, it won’t just be work; TODOS general meeting coupled with some FREE fun social activities: Bowling and pool (biljard). So come, chat with your colleagues and have fun.

TODOS is an interest organization that works to improve the welfare of all PhD candidates & postdocs at UiT. We focus on two important aspects of PhD & postdoc life: academic work and social life/networking among PhDs & postdocs. Currently, we are 6 PhDs on the TODOS board that work to provide help, assistance, guidance, and education throughout your PhD & postdoc journey. We are also here to keep you updated on your rights and obligations as a PhD and to help you to mediate if those rights are impeded.
