On the 5th December, the CAGE21-6 cruise, led by Associate Professor Monica Winsborrow and Dr Jochen Knies, set off from Tromsø and headed north towards the central Barents Sea. The aim was to investigate the Hopendjupet Seepage Area, an area known for intense methane flaring, with an ROV for the first time.
This 11-day polar night and multi-disciplinary CAGE cruise is in collaboration with NPD, and has cruise participants from numerous institutes including CAGE, UiT, NPD, NGU, and UNIS.
For this cruise, a new style of cruise blogging is being used: an interactive story map. The CAGE21-6 cruise blog has already many contributions from numerous of the cruise participants.
